Written by Gordon Render and Malcolm Kohll
Zack is in a fuel tanker truck, surrounded by security guards, bouncing across the Namib Desert. The thing is - he hates deserts. And field work. And sand flies and heat rash and dust. What is probably the worst day in Zack's life is about to take yet another downward turn...
Two days ago, Zack was in his laboratory in Vancouver, doing what he's good at. He designs 'on-line' life support systems; removing the need for people to risk their lives in parts of the world that are too cold, hot, dry, deep or high to support humans. But R & D costs money - a great deal of money - and sometimes Zack has to go on-site and press the flesh to keep the development money flowing. It's just such a need which has brought him to one of the most inhospitable landscapes in the world, the Namib diamond fields.
As he clings to his seat, a radio call comes through - three diamond prospectors working in the middle of the desert reported finding a strange rocky outcrop and were going to check it out. They haven't been heard from since and the fuel tanker is ordered to take a detour to check on them.
They expect to find a bunch of prospectors with a busted radio. What they find is a massacre - two bodies, stripped of flesh, scattered around a strange rock dome and a set of footprints leading off into the desert.
Darkness descends and the group prepare for a night in the middle of nowhere - a night where all hell is let loose...
